The Old Hundred Mine, Animas Forks and South Mineral Creek
We traveled to Silverton, always a beautiful trip from Ouray, with plans to visit Animas Forks, an old ghost town in the mountains. After some brief shopping in Silverton we headed out on the relatively easy 4WD road to Animas Forks. Just outside Silverton is the Old Hundred Mine. Kathy had never been down in an old mine, so we stopped for a tour. Our guide, a former miner, did an excellent job explaining mining as he guided us on a one hour tour of the mine.

Leaving the Old Hundred Mine, we headed on toward Animas Forks, enjoying some beautiful scenery along the way.
